Spanish Grammar Book (1936)
- Name: Ana Torres
- Location: Monterrey, México
These illustrations are from “Spanish Grammar” by Emilio Marin. The book was first published in 1936 by Editorial Progreso ( I really don’t know if the editorial has the same name nowadays). This is one of my grandfather’s book , when I was a kid I used to read it, I was always curious about how the illustrations reflect a concrete period, being testimonials of the 30’s.
Mezcal El Señor
- Name: Christian Ramírez
- Location: Allende, Nuevo León, México
An elegant, sophisticated and sober design represents the spirit of this mexican mezcal. So few the elements yet captivating to designer eyes
Matiz Magazine
“Estas revistas que conservo tan celosamente fueron publicadas en 1997-1998. Me gustan mucho porque en sus contenidos veo una experimentación en diseño editorial muy al estilo de los 90´s.”
We all live in the yellow submarine
Taza del yellow submarine que me regaló mi novia, pero me encanta ese tono de amarillo.
Blonde Redhead - 23
I didn’t know anything about this band, just that this CD were designed by Triboro Design, a New York based design studio. When I found it in a near store, I had the impulse to buy it, then I listened to the music and I knew that it was a good design investment.
Springfield Label
It would be great that this label were from the 60’s, but well, it’s a Springfield label from 4 or 5 years ago. I love when this labels have a defined personality, so I need to keep them.
Paper Bag from Cielito Lindo
I like all the typographic concept of Cielito Lindo, an awesome cafeteria in Mexico. When I buy some coffe and stuff I was happy to see this bag being filled with my goods.
DFC Store Poster
The past year I went to the amazing Mexico City for the Corredor Cultural Roma-Condesa. While walking through Álvaro Obregón St (I guess) I found several posters like this one on the wall. I just couldn’t resist this temptation, so I kept one folded.
I felt kind of guilty for “stealing” a poster like that, but I’ll publish and investigate about the designer who did this in exchange.
An italian booklet
Some years ago, I went to a french design exhibition at some museum in Monterrey. The cool thing about it was that all the catalogues and booklets were from Italy, so the editorial design was indeed italian. I picked this one because of its small size and modular structure. It was an awesome feeling to find this level of design for free.
Paul Auster Book
I love this kind of geometric compositions for a minimalistic cover. It’s really intriguing besides its few elements and I have to say that the stories in this book are somewhat mysterious.
